The NFL Responds To Trump About The Boycott Of The National Anthem

Recently, President Trump had a speech about how the disrespect shown to the national anthem by NFL players should not be tolerated.

The President didn’t take the boycott lightly, requesting that the players be fired. However, the NFL released a statement criticizing Donald Trump.

Claiming that he’s showing a “lack of respect” to the organization and its players.

However, the NFL didn’t specifically target Trump in the statement. Stating that Trump smashed players for taking a knee during the national anthem.

Trump’s criticism happened during a rally in Huntsville, Alabama during his campaign for Sen. Luther Strange.

President Trump commented:

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired’?”

Also saying that fans should leave a game where that kind of disrespect happens.

Many NFL stars directly blasted the President about his remarks.

Executive Director of the NFL Players Association DeMaurice Smith said:

“Never back down when it comes to protecting the constitutional rights of our players.”

Taking a knee during the national anthem gained popularity last year. When San Francisco 69ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did it at a preseason game.

Colin Kaepernick Told The Media:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,”

He continued:

“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

This kind of disrespect towards The United States should NOT be tolerated.
